Job summary

Santa Fe South Public Schools is seeking a Middle School Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction and serve as the IEP case manager for students at West Middle School in Oklahoma City, OK. The role emphasizes collaboration with general education teachers, families, and related service providers to support student growth.

The position offers a 190-day contract with salary guidance provided by the OKCPS schedule plus 5%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid Oklahoma teaching certification in Special Education, Mild–Moderate Disabilities, or eligibility to obtain with SFS support.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with families, general education teachers, related service providers, and paraprofessionals.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver research-based specialized instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals and grade-level learning.
• Use assessment results and progress-monitoring data to adjust instruction and help students make measurable growth.
• Provide accommodations, instructional supports, and other services outlined in students’ IEPs.
• Build a positive learning environment that recognizes students’ strengths, encourages effort, and develops independence.
• Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs in collaboration with the school team.
• Serve as the IEP case manager for assigned students, coordinating services and monitoring implementation of their plans.
• Schedule, prepare for, and lead IEP meetings in partnership with families and school staff.
• Develop clear, individualized goals and maintain accurate records of student progress and services.
• Complete required documentation, reporting, and timelines in accordance with district procedures and applicable state and federal requirements.
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress, needs, and successes.
• Partner with general education teachers to plan accommodations, instructional strategies, and appropriate classroom supports.
• Coordinate with related service providers and other team members to ensure students receive the services in their IEPs.
• Provide direction and guidance to paraprofessionals supporting assigned students.
• Contribute to a school culture grounded in strong relationships, high expectations, and shared responsibility for student success.
