The St. Martin Parish School Board is seeking a Special Education Teacher for middle school (grades 5–8).

The ideal candidate will implement IEPs, adapt curricula for students with disabilities, and collaborate with general education teachers and families to support student growth. Applicants should hold a valid Louisiana teaching certificate in Special Education and a bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field, with 2+ years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Certification: Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Special Education per Bulletin 746.
• Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Special Education or related field.
• 2+ years of teaching experience in special education preferred.
• Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards for grades 5-8 and IEP development.

Key Requirements And Qualifications

• Certification: Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Special Education in accordance with Louisiana Department of Education guidelines (Bulletin 746).
• Education: Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Special Education or a related field.
• Experience: 2+ years of teaching experience in special education is frequently preferred.
• Content Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Louisiana Student Standards for grades 58 and the ability to adapt general education curriculum to meet the needs of students with disabilities; knowledge of IEP development and implementation, accommodations, and modifications.
• Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills; effective classroom management; ability to collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families; strong organizational skills; ability to differentiate instruction; and ability to use data-driven instruction to support individual student growth.
