Job summary

Ellington Public Schools' Middle School MAP Program is seeking a long-term substitute teacher to start immediately, serving 7th and 8th graders needing specialized instruction and daily living skills support in a small-group setting.

You will develop IEPs, lead Planning and Placement Team meetings, monitor progress with data, coordinate paraeducator support, and collaborate with parents and staff to support student growth.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid appropriate Special Education Certification (e.g., #065, #165, #265).
• A state and national criminal check will be required as well as a DCF search.

Responsibilities

• Writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans based on data.
• Facilitating Planning and Placement Team meetings.
• Progress monitoring and frequent data collection.
• Planning and implementing instruction in English, Mathematics, executive functioning and daily living skills.
• Partnering with parents to foster home/school connections and building meaningful connections with students.
• Building strong connections with students.
• Partnering with staff to conduct home visits for students.
• Working collaboratively with school staff.
• Overseeing and scheduling paraeducator support for students.
