Job summary

Spotsylvania County Public Schools seeks a Middle School Special Education paraeducator to support students with emotional disabilities in self-contained classrooms. The role focuses on individualized instruction and IEP implementation to ensure each student’s progress.

The candidate will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, hold parent conferences, and adhere to state and division policies. A 10-month contract with benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to obtain appropriate Virginia license(s) or endorsements.
• Applicable prior teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction with individualized educational planning.
• Develop and annually review IEPs and monitor progress.
• Assist screening and placement decisions for students with disabilities.
• Be a member of an interdisciplinary team to plan appropriate programs.
• Conduct periodic parent conferences and/or home visits.
• Follow Special Education procedures and district guidelines.
