Qualifications

• 3+ years of teaching experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or closely related field
• Completion of required READ Act training
• Official college transcripts (evaluated by NACES)
• Passing score on Praxis 5581 within one year of hire
• Proficiency in Common Core Social Studies standards
• Completion of required READ ACT Training
• Official college transcripts evaluated by a NACES member.

Denver Language School (DLS) is a public, tuition-free language immersion charter school located in East Denver. DLS provides an innovative academic program to reach the highest levels of student achievement through comprehensive language immersion education in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. DLS offers traditional learning activities in the target language, making the language both the medium and the object of instruction.

Overview of position:

The Middle School Spanish Language Arts Teacher supports the academic growth of students through the implementation of DLS pedagogy, comprehensive classroom management, implementing effective engagement strategies, and building authentic teacher/student relationships. This role is responsible for effective instruction and management of a classroom of middle-schoolers.

The Spanish Language Arts Teacher is a contributing member of the Spanish Immersion Program and works closely with campus principals, instructional leaders and teachers, parents/families, and students to ensure measurable positive student outcomes.

The selected candidate will report to the Gilpin Middle School Principal.

Pay and Benefits:

• Employees at DLS are compensated in accordance with other Denver-area charter schools. The annual salary of $57,120 to - $63,036.
• 8 days of PTO with an option to roll days to the following school year. PTO will be prorated to reflect a mid-year start.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of teaching experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or closely related field

• Passing score on Praxis 5581 within one year of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of teaching experience
• Previous immersion or Dual Language Immersion teaching experience

Physical Requirements:

• Long periods (45 - 90 minutes) standing for up to 90% of the day.
• Ability to occasionally lift 10-30 pounds (books, supplies, desks, chairs, etc)
