Job summary

Heritage CUSD #8 is seeking a Junior High Science Teacher to inspire curiosity and foster hands-on learning for middle grades. The teacher will deliver NGSS-aligned science lessons, design engaging labs, and assess student progress using diverse methods.

Collaboration with colleagues and participation in professional development are essential, as is promoting a safe, welcoming classroom culture that values curiosity and lifelong learning.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Middle Grades Science endorsement (5–8) or equivalent secondary science certification.
• Strong understanding of NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) and inquiry-based instruction.
• Commitment to differentiated instruction, data-driven decision making, and positive classroom management.
• Ability to integrate STEM concepts, hands-on labs, and technology to enhance student engagement.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned to NGSS.
• Design labs and hands-on experiences that promote scientific inquiry.
