Job summary

St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's School seeks a dedicated Middle School Science Teacher to design and deliver inquiry-based science lessons. Plan labs and IBL activities that meet diverse needs and stimulate curiosity about the world through scientific inquiry.

You will assess student progress, keep high-quality reports, and partner with families and school teams to support each learner's growth in a safe, engaging classroom.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or education required.
• Advanced degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan class activities/labs and lesson presentations appropriate for the grade level.
• Design and implement inquiry-oriented Middle School Science lessons with active, phenomena-based learning.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs and manage classroom responsibilities.
• Prepare and implement assessments to meet the needs of every student.
• Collect data on student progress, write reports, and conduct conferences with parents.
• Collaborate with division, department, and grade-level teams to shape curriculum.
• Create and maintain a safe, well-structured learning environment.
• Engage in other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Middle School Science Teacher.ResponsibilitiesPlan class activities/labs and lesson presentations that are appropriate for the class grade level and meet the individual needs, interests, and ability levels of all students.Design, plan, and implement inquiry-oriented Middle School Science lessons that motivate students and create active, phenomena-based learning experiences.Encourage middle school-aged students to think deeply about the curriculum, themselves, and the world around them through a lens of scientific inquiryManage all classroom responsibilities, including designing and implementing a hands-on, interdisciplinary curriculum, differentiating instruction to meet all learners' needs, and utilizing various approaches to teaching and assessing students.Prepare and implement assessments that meet the needs of every studentUtilize a variety/range of student learning modalities in each lesson and ensure differentiated instruction within those lessonsAssess student strengths and weaknesses frequently and provide appropriate activities to address student needs.Ensure high-quality report writing and communication.Collect data on student progress, write reports, hold parent conferences, and meet with administrators and other faculty to support the needs of individual students.Work collaboratively with the division, department, and grade-level team(s) to shape and refine the curriculum.Build relationships with all students so they are actively engaged in classroom activities.Create and maintain a safe, well-structured physical environment that is conducive to student learning.Other Duties as assigned by the Head of School.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Science or education required.
