Job summary

The Dieringer School District is seeking a passionate Robotics Coach for North Tapps Middle School to guide a middle school team through building, programming, and competing with robots in FIRST programs.

You will mentor students, organize regular practice sessions, help troubleshoot during the design-build process, and promote teamwork, creativity, and STEM enthusiasm in a supportive environment after school.

Qualifications

• Experience in robotics, engineering, marketing or a related field is preferred.
• Previous coaching or teaching experience with middle school students is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to motivate students.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff and parents.
• Availability for after-school practices and competition events.
• Knowledge of programming languages relevant to robotics (e.g., Java) is a plus.
• Background check clearance as required by district and FIRST policies.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students in FIRST robotics competitions, guiding design, construction and programming of robots.
• Organize regular team meetings and practice sessions, fostering a supportive environment.
• Assist students in troubleshooting during the build process.
• Promote teamwork, creativity and STEM enthusiasm among students.
• Collaborate with school staff and parents to promote the program and recruit participants.
• Manage equipment and supplies for student use.
• Stay updated on robotics and STEM education trends and incorporate new ideas.
• Prepare students for competitions by simulating contest conditions and providing feedback.
