Job summary

Grandview School District is seeking a Playground Supervisor for Grandview Middle School to monitor student behavior, intervene in conflicts, and help ensure a safe, positive environment during recess and related activities.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, with job-related experience preferred. Schedule is 5 days per week, 180 days plus 10 holidays per year, and pay ranges from $18.76 to $24.03 per hour.

• Intervenes in potential conflicts and emergencies to minimize disruptions during recess.
• Monitors student behavior to ensure safety and adherence to guidelines.
• Performs related duties to keep the work unit efficient.
• Prepares incident reports and activity logs for documentation.
• Refers incidents to appropriate staff for follow-up per safety guidelines.

What You'll be Doing:

• Intervenes in potential conflicts and emergency situations for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of campus activities and/or injury to involved parties during recess.
• Monitors student behavior during and between assigned periods (e.g. playground, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring student compliance with established guidelines, maintaining a safe and positive learning environment, and secure facility.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
• Prepares written materials (e.g. incident reports, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
• Refers incidents including personal injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, rule violations, etc. to appropriate site personnel for the purpose of ensuring follow-up in accordance with administrative, site security and student safety guidelines.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and some fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 34% sitting, 33% walking, and 33% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
