Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a classroom teacher to foster a positive learning environment, develop and revise curricula, and establish clear learning objectives aligned with district standards. The role includes instructing students, counseling and supervising as needed, and evaluating progress.

The candidate will plan instruction, implement effective teaching methods, and maintain open communication with families and colleagues to support achievement for a diverse student population.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and experience teaching in an urban, diverse student population.
• Washington State Teaching Certificate; CPR/First Aid certification may be required.
• Experience teaching multi-level, open-concept classes and working with bilingual students.

Responsibilities

• Plan instructional program meeting individual and group needs; develop lesson plans.
• Use appropriate instructional methods and materials aligned with curriculum objectives.
• Establish classroom policies; guide, counsel, and discipline to support achievement.
• Communicate with students, parents, and staff to support student progress.
• Record and report student progress; generate parent reports.
