Job summary

Desert Heights Charter Schools is seeking a full-time Jr High Math teacher to deliver 7th and 8th grade instruction aligned with Arizona standards. The role emphasizes differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs, maintaining accurate records, and communicating effectively with families and school leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education (preferred) or a minimum of 3 years of relevant teaching experience.
• Early Childhood Education Certification (required).
• Experience with educational technology or project-based learning is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide Math Instruction meeting the Arizona state standards through research-based curriculum to 7th and 8th grade students
• Identify and address the individual learning needs of students
• Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to diverse learning styles and abilities
• Foster an inclusive learning environment that supports growth
• Prepare students for standardized assessments in line with Arizona standards
• Maintain accurate student records including grades and attendance
• Communicate with parents, guardians, and administration regarding student performance
• Lead and mentor volunteers or paraprofessionals in the classroom
• Supervise after-school activity or clubs to boost engagement
• Adhere to school policies and participate in professional development

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide Math Instruction meeting the Arizona state standards through research based curriculum to 7th and 8th grade students
• Identify and address the individual learning needs of students
• Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to diverse learning styles and abilities
• Foster a stimulating, inclusive learning environment that encourages growth and development
• Instill positive attitudes, skills, and knowledge in students to prepare them for academic success
• Utilize various evaluation tools (e.g., tests, observations) to monitor and assess student progress
• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school administration regarding student performance and behavior
• Serve as a mentor and role model, promoting ethical behavior and respect
• Organize, direct, and oversee parent volunteers and paraprofessionals in the classroom
• Supervise and lead an after-school activity or club to enhance student engagement
• Participate in professional development opportunities and adhere to school policies
• Provide accommodations and interventions for students requiring additional academic support
• Assign, review, and provide constructive feedback on homework and classwork
• Prepare students for standardized assessments in alignment with Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including grades and attendance
• Adhere to Arizona sanitation and safety regulations, ensuring a secure environment for students
