Role Description The Middle School Math Resource Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Newark, NJ. This educator provides targeted instructional support in mathematics to middle school students, including small-group and one-on-one intervention, enrichment, and differentiated instruction aligned to state standards. The teacher collaborates with classroom teachers and school leaders to analyze assessment data, identify learning gaps, co-plan lessons, and implement effective instructional strategies. Daily responsibilities include developing and adapting math resources, monitoring student progress, using formative and summative assessments, and communicating regularly with families and caregivers about student growth. The role also involves participating in professional learning communities, contributing to school-wide initiatives, and maintaining an inclusive, safe, and culturally responsive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong middle school mathematics content knowledge and experience aligning instruction to state standards and curriculum frameworks.
  • Demonstrated skills in differentiated instruction, small-group and one-on-one intervention, and supporting diverse learners, including multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
  • Ability to use data-driven practices, including analyzing assessment results, tracking progress, and adjusting instruction to improve student outcomes.
  • Effective classroom management, positive behavior support strategies, and the ability to create an inclusive, engaging, and culturally responsive learning environment.
  • Collaborative skills for working with teachers, support staff, families, and administrators, including clear communication and openness to feedback.
  • Proficiency with educational technology, digital math tools, and online platforms used for instruction, assessment, and communication.
  • Commitment to equity, high expectations for all students, and continuous professional growth through reflection, coaching, and professional development.
  • Valid New Jersey teaching certification in Mathematics or appropriate middle school endorsement; prior experience teaching middle school mathematics in an urban or similar setting preferred.
