Job summary

Tucson Unified School District seeks a Math Intervention Specialist at Valencia Middle School in the Irvington & Camino De Oeste area. This 1.0 FTE position is 7.5 hours per day on a 9.5-month calendar.

The role involves accelerating math skills, diagnosing strengths/weaknesses, and designing targeted interventions in collaboration with teachers. Requires AZ certification and IVP clearance; immunization proof and a bilingual endorsement are preferred.

Qualifications

• Arizona Elementary Certificate K-8 with Middle Grades Math Approved Area 6-8 or Math Endorsement K-8.
• OR Arizona Secondary Certificate 6-12 with Math or Middle Grades Math Approved Area 6-8 or Math Endorsement K-8.
• Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Proof of immunity to measles and rubella (MMR).
• Math Endorsement K-8.
• Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students.
• Bilingual (Spanish) endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the acceleration of students in mathematics.
• Works with students to improve specific mathematical skills.
• Consults with classroom teachers to design and plan interventions.
• Conducts assessments to identify students eligible for intervention services.
• Diagnoses math strengths and weaknesses and matches skills with appropriate techniques and materials.
