Burlington Public Schools is seeking a Librarian for Marshall Simonds Middle School in Burlington, MA, to lead the school library program and support reading, inquiry, and student learning.

The Teacher Librarian will collaborate with students, educators, and the district library team to ensure the library is an active part of teaching and learning, while promoting digital citizenship and access to diverse resources.

Qualifications

• Teaches information literacy, research, inquiry, media literacy, source evaluation, citation, copyright, and ethical use of information.
• Models responsible digital citizenship and online safety.

Responsibilities

• Leads the organization, development, and ongoing evaluation of the school library program and learning commons.
• Creates a welcoming, inclusive, student-centered library environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, collaboration, independent learning, and a sense of belonging.
• Promotes a strong culture of reading throughout the school and encourages students to read widely for learning, personal interest, enjoyment, and growth.
• Provides students with access to a broad, current, engaging, and diverse collection of print, digital, and multimedia resources.
• Develops, evaluates, maintains, and regularly updates the library collection based on curriculum needs, student interests, professional reviews, circulation data, collection analysis, and district policies.
• Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to design and teach research, literacy, inquiry, and interdisciplinary learning experiences connected to curriculum and student needs.
