Job summary

DeKalb County School District is seeking an Interrelated Teacher for Chapel Hill Middle School to implement high academic expectations and promote student achievement. The candidate will collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with students, parents, and district staff.

The role requires planning and delivering instruction both in-person and virtually, managing behavior, and contributing to IEP/SDI processes as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a Georgia-approved college or university in the relevant field.
• Valid teaching certificate in the appropriate field is required.
• Special education endorsements required; appropriate certification alignment with assignment.
• Must pass the GACE Education Ethics Assessment.
• Minimum two years of verifiable industrial work experience (CTAE).

Responsibilities

• Teaches grade-relevant, subject matter-specific, and mandated curriculum.
• Develops and implements lesson plans for in-person and virtual learning with written prep evidence.
• Communicates with district personnel, students, and parents by phone, email, or video.
• Creates a conducive classroom environment for physical, social, and emotional development.
• Uses internet/tech tools to provide instruction and collaboration.
• Assesses and reports progress, attendance, and performance data.
• Supervises student behavior per conduct codes and handbooks.
• Participates in conferences with parents, students, counselors, and administrators.
• Performs duties such as material orders, meetings, and professional learning.
• Directs paraprofessionals and instructional aides as needed.
• Identifies educational needs and provides instruction for students with varying exceptionalities (IEPs).
• Serves as case manager for students with disabilities and facilitates IEP meetings.
• Implements SDI aligned to state standards and accommodations.
• Develops IEPs and analyzes data to monitor progress toward goals.
