Qualifications

• Master's Degree required.
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Guidance Counselor endorsement or a School Guidance Counselor license issued by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE).

Responsibilities

• Aids students in course and subject selection based on Educational Development Plan.
• Obtains and disseminates occupational information to students and classes studying occupations.
• Assists students in evaluating aptitudes and abilities through interpretation of test scores and other data.
• Works to discover and develop students' abilities.
• Works to resolve students' educational handicaps.
• Plans and schedules school curriculum with administrators.
• Registers new students and orients them to procedures and opportunities.
• Enrols students and advises on graduation requirements.
• Prevents student dropouts.
• Advises on career/college interests and choices.
• Provides counseling to foster personal growth and maturity.
• Assists with personal problems related to home, health, attendance, or emotional adjustment.
