Wayne Township Public Schools in Wayne, NJ seeks a Secondary Guidance Counselor to provide comprehensive guidance services, crisis support, and college and career planning for secondary students. The counselor works closely with parents, students, and staff to implement counseling and guidance programs under the supervision of the building principal.

Qualifications

• It is required to hold the New Jersey Educational Services Certificate as Counselor in Guidance or Student Personnel Services.
• Experience with a secondary student population is preferred.
• Bullying and violence prevention training and substance abuse prevention are desirable.
• Certificate required, experience preferred; NCAA clearinghouse knowledge is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling, crisis, and support services under the principal's supervision.
• Assist students in meeting educational, occupational, and life plans.
• Maintain logs of counseling and educational activities weekly.
• Interpret school policies and guidance services to students, parents, and community.
• Coordinate guidance department programs and scheduling; assist with test administration.
• Support transitions from middle to high school and postsecondary options.
