Position Summary

Charlotte Country Day School, an independent co‑educational day school located in Charlotte, NC, is recruiting a Middle School Head Football Coach to begin work in Summer 2026. This part‑time, seasonal position has hours that vary with the season. During the in‑season period, the coach will mainly conduct afternoon and evening practices and competitions, with occasional weekend work. Out‑of‑season responsibilities are less time‑intensive and more flexible. Formal practice for the Fall 2026 season will begin on Monday, August 3rd, 2026. Preparation for the season will commence at a mutually agreeable date during the summer of 2026.

Essential Functions

The Middle School Football Head Coach leads all aspects of the middle school football program, including development and supervision of student‑athletes, while collaborating with the Football Program Head to support the overarching goals of the program.

Specific Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all aspects of the middle school football team during the Fall season (August through October).
• Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Athletics (Middle School) and Football Program Head to ensure alignment with the athletic department at all levels.
• Coordinate middle school football logistics including practice planning, game‑day operations, equipment needs, and team organization.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, school administration, and coaching staff throughout the season.
• Plan and execute practices that support player safety, development, and program continuity.
• Supervise student‑athletes during practices, competitions, team travel, and other football-related activities.
• Promote and model good sportsmanship, respect for officials, opponents, teammates, and the game of football.
• Maintain adherence to school, conference, and safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain and inventory team equipment and apparel.
• Provide regular communication with team parents and athletics program staff regarding team activities.
• Attend required team and interscholastic athletics program meetings.
• Support multi‑sport participation for student‑athletes.
• Promote balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student‑athletes.
• Comply with all relevant policies of Charlotte Country Day School, NCISAA, GCMA, and CISAA.

Other Responsibilities

• Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Athletics, Health, and Wellness.

Requirements and Qualifications

• At least a bachelor’s degree.
• Experience coaching football at middle school, high school, or collegiate level.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Enthusiasm for the role of athletics in an independent school setting.
• Vision and creativity.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team‑oriented environment.
• Employment contingent upon an approved criminal background check.
• Willingness to pursue a certification from the National Federation of State High School Associations (CIC – Certified Interscholastic Coach or AIC – Accredited Interscholastic Coach) and a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Endorsements of P (passenger) and S (school bus) preferred.
