William Penn Charter School is a Quaker, all-gender, pre-K-12 independent, day school in the East Falls neighborhood of Philadelphia. Established in 1689 by William Penn and members of the Religious Society of Friends, Penn Charter is guided by Quaker testimonies and the belief that there is "that of God" in every person. Position Summary
We seek a long-term Middle School English substitute teacher from late August 2025 to January 2026. Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in English or a related field (advanced degree preferred) and prior teaching experience, especially at the middle school level. The ideal candidate will utilize student-centered pedagogy and technology, demonstrate curiosity and a growth mindset, and build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families. Familiarity with Quaker principles is highly desirable. The role involves following our shared curriculum with some autonomy, contributing to our PK-12 English program.
