Position Summary

The ideal candidate will support the District’s mission and vision, and have the primary responsibility to plan and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons that meet state-mandated standards. Each teacher will also communicate regularly and effectively with students and parents.

District Summary

The William Penn School District, located in southeastern Delaware County, serves approximately 5,000 students across Aldan, Colwyn, Darby, East Lansdowne, Lansdowne, and Yeadon Boroughs. Our collective vision is to educate, nurture, and empower all students to become career and/or college ready.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties
  1. Plan and execute developmentally appropriate lessons in the assigned content area(s); differentiate instruction for all students; implement IEP accommodations and modifications.
  2. Maintain all assigned courses to high standards, adjusting lessons and assessments as necessary.
  3. Gather resources to address and incorporate state standards into lessons, instructional materials, and assessments.
  4. Monitor and maintain student attendance expectations.
  5. Analyze assessment data to support instructional decision-making (e.g., PVAAS, Keystone, PSSA).
  6. Provide timely feedback to students to support mastery of content.
  7. Participate in proctoring state-mandated testing, school events, and community outreach.
  8. Collaborate with peers to ensure instructional effectiveness and student outcomes.
  9. Maintain accurate records in student information systems following procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Awareness of cultural identity and its influence on behavior; desire to learn about others' cultural identities.
  • Ability to promote cultural competence and equitable treatment.
  • Understanding of PA Core Standards, Instructional Planning Guides, and digital curriculum components.
  • Leadership in conversations about equity and closing opportunity gaps.
  • Effective relationship-building with staff, students, parents, and community in a multicultural environment.
  • Receptive to feedback and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Certification: English 7-12 or pathway to certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field.
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience.
Pre-employment Requirements
  • Background checks: Criminal, FBI Fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance.
  • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (Act 168).
  • Health Record and TB test.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Indoor environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Light physical activity including lifting, reaching, and standing.
  • Extended sitting, standing, walking, and communication capabilities.
Compensation

$50,119 - $101,320, dependent on Step and Track within collective bargaining agreements.
