Middle School English Language Arts Teacher

Girard College is a full-scholarship boarding school that fosters intellectual curiosity, social development and emotional growth in academically focused students from underserved communities. We ensure every student the opportunity and the means to achieve excellence and preparation for advanced education through purposeful academic and residential programs.

Girard College seeks a certified English Language Arts Teacher for our middle school students anticipated to begin August 18, 2025. Our teachers implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction aligned to PA State Standards, work collaboratively with teachers in other disciplines as well as residential staff and participate fully in the school’s academic and residential community. The position reports directly to the Principal of the Elementary/Middle School.

• Create a positive, achievement-oriented and structured learning environment
• Motivate students to achieve high academic and behavioral standards
• Investment in students and families in order to achieve our standard for academic success, and to meet our Core Values
• Utilize data to drive instruction and learning intervention
• Design and implement unit and lesson plans in collaboration with grade/subject teams

A Mindset for Professional Growth and Development:
• Collaborate with building leaders, instructional coaches, teacher leaders and colleagues to continuously improve instructional, culture-building and leadership skills
• Participate enthusiastically in all professional development, instructional planning, teacher/residential collaborative team meetings, community meetings and MTSS meetings
• Function as a school wide partner in helping to raise student achievement and character for all students in the school. Reinforcing school-wide expectations and volunteering to take on additional activities as needed to improve school academics and culture.

Note:Important Salary Information: the minimum starting salary for new teachers shall be determined by their completion of years of teaching / counseling experience and degree level and in accordance with the bargaining agreement.

Education Background and Minimum Requirements:


Teaching experience highly preferred with a proven record of high academic and social achievement
• Minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree in the specific core content job area
• Currently possess or be eligible for State of Pennsylvania teaching certification - English 7-12, Grades 4-8 English Language Arts & Reading, or Middle Level English 6-9
