Melrose Public Schools seeks an ELL Teacher for Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School to provide direct English language development in classroom and pull-out settings, supporting reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The role requires ESL certification at the middle school level with a preferred Master's in ESL or related field.

The teacher will collaborate with the principal and staff, administer proficiency assessments, and maintain required ELL documentation while aligning instruction

Qualifications

• Certification in ESL at the Middle School level.
• Master's degree in ESL or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of current theories of second language acquisition and development.
• Knowledge of effective sheltered English immersion instructional techniques and current regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct English language development instruction to English language learners in classroom and pull-out settings.
• Design lessons addressing reading, writing, listening, and speaking domains for ELLs.
• Administer appropriate English language proficiency assessments and assist in result analysis.
• Complete language proficiency assessments and documentation, including parental notifications.
• Communicate with families about student progress and coordinate with school staff to support ELLs.
• Collaborate with other ESL teachers to develop WIDA-aligned curriculum and share resources.
• Maintain required documentation for ELLs, including intake, exit forms, and assessments.
• Assist with monitoring formerly limited English proficient students and related documentation.
• Engage in professional growth and perform additional duties as assigned by administration.
