Job summary

Uncommon Schools Newark is seeking a Middle School English Language Arts teacher who is passionate about literature and building an engaging classroom culture. You will develop subject mastery and prioritize discussion, helping students grow in reading and writing across genres.

You will meet with administration to analyze student work, differentiate instruction, and contribute to a positive school culture that centers equity and student voice.

Responsibilities

• Teach an inclusive, culturally responsive ELA curriculum that seeks equitable outcomes for all students.
• Guide students to analyze texts, assess an author's purpose, and write across genres with student-led discourse.
• Create an inclusive, safe environment and empower students to speak and write in their authentic voice.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams to develop academic goals and share instructional strategies.
