Job summary

Uncommon Schools, a nonprofit network of charter schools, is seeking an English Language Arts teacher for our middle school. You will foster a literature-rich classroom, emphasize writing and discourse, and implement research-based strategies to support all learners.

The role includes weekly meetings with leaders for data review, collaboration with families, and ongoing professional development in a diverse urban setting. A NJ certification path is provided after hire.

Qualifications

• A demonstrated commitment to supporting students' social emotional and academic development.
• An enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners in the best interest of students.
• A self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes and achieve objectives.
• Required Experience: 1–2 years in urban K‑12 settings.
• Academic expertise in Humanities, English, or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Instruction: teach a culturally responsive ELA curriculum and foster student voice.
• Data Analysis: review student work and assessments with leadership to inform instruction.
• School Culture: build positive relationships with students and families, participate in PD and weekly meetings, and align with school values.
