Job summary

Uncommon Schools in Newark, NJ seeks an English Language Arts teacher for its high school program. You will deliver a literature-rich, college-preparatory curriculum, foster student-led discourse, and assess progress to raise academic achievement in urban schools.

You will collaborate with colleagues, participate in weekly coaching and professional development, and contribute to a supportive school culture while aligning with our mission to close the college completion gap.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student-led discourse with evidence to support sophisticated claims and arguments.
• Assess student comprehension and adapt lessons to maximize learning.
• Partner with departments and grade-level teams on content and instructional strategies.
