Job summary

Excelsior Prep Charter School of Tampa in Tampa, FL seeks an energetic ELA Teacher to deliver high-quality English instruction, foster language development, and support students’ academic growth in a diverse classroom.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
  • K–12 teaching experience preferred.
  • ELA teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of language acquisition theories and curriculum development for ELA learners.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute engaging lesson plans tailored to students’ needs.
  • Teach English language skills including speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
  • Assess language proficiency and monitor progress regularly.

Salary: $50,200.00 Annually

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and qualifiedELA Teacher to join our educational team. The ELA Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality English language instruction while creating engaging learning experiences that support students’ academic growth and language development.

The ideal candidate will develop effective lesson plans, assess student progress, adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs, and foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Understands central concepts, tools of inquiry, and the structure of the discipline(s) taught and makes subject matter meaningful to students.
  • Develops a classroom culture of openness, fairness, mutual respect, support, and inquiry.
  • Engages every student in grade-level-appropriate learning experiences that promote academic performance.
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and community members while respecting diverse perspectives.
  • Models and reinforces self-discipline, responsibility, and respect.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community to support students’ learning and well-being.
  • Uses student data to guide classroom decisions and support continual improvement.
  • Develops and implements course, unit, and lesson plans aligned with academic goals.
  • Provides students and parents with timely information regarding academic achievement and progress.
  • Uses formal and informal assessments to evaluate student performance and modifies instructional strategies as needed.
  • Provides learning opportunities that support the intellectual, social, and personal development of diverse learners.
  • Establishes and maintains a safe and secure classroom environment.
  • Manages student behavior appropriately and resolves conflicts effectively.
  • Promotes independent learning and collaborative work.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains a professional development plan.
  • Uses instructional strategies that reflect students’ cultures, learning styles, special needs, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Identifies and utilizes appropriate instructional resources, including materials suited to students’ reading and proficiency levels.
  • Designs engaging lessons using active learning, hands-on applications, and meaningful teacher-student and student-student discussions.
  • Incorporates appropriate technology into teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrates positive classroom results and trends.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Previous K–12 teaching experience preferred
  • Previous ELA teaching experience preferred
  • Knowledge of language acquisition theories, instructional methodologies, and curriculum development for ELA learners
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with culturally diverse students and colleagues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish
