Salary Range: $47,500.00 To $50,200.00 Annually
Position Summary
This instructional position is responsible for providing educational leadership to students in a group or classroom setting within an innovative charter school. The educator is expected to understand and effectively implement the school’s curriculum, instructional practices, and assessment strategies to maximize educational achievement for all students.
The educator will work collaboratively to maintain a safe, secure, respectful, and positive learning environment. Creative instructional strategies that address students’ multiple intelligences and diverse learning needs are essential.
- Understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of the discipline(s) taught and makes subject matter meaningful to students.
- Develops a classroom climate and culture of openness, fairness, mutual respect, support, and inquiry.
- Engages every student in grade-level-appropriate learning experiences that promote academic performance.
- Listens and interacts effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and community members while respecting diverse perspectives.
- Demonstrates respect for students, colleagues, administrators, and parents.
- Models and reinforces self-discipline and responsibility.
- Works effectively with school colleagues, parents, and the community to support students’ learning and well-being.
- Provides professional leadership to establish a culture conducive to learning and student diversity.
- Involves students in developing a mission and goals that support the school’s goals and guide classroom decisions.
- Uses student data to support continual improvement.
- Develops and implements a strategic planning system, including course, unit, and lesson plans.
- Provides opportunities for students to demonstrate appropriate progress toward graduation expectations, including becoming knowledgeable lifelong learners, responsible individuals, effective communicators, problem solvers, collaborative team workers, and self-directed learners.
- Provides students and parents with timely data to support improvements in student achievement.
- Uses formal and informal assessment strategies to determine whether students have achieved high standards and modifies instructional strategies as needed to maximize achievement.
- Understands how students learn and provides opportunities that support the intellectual, social, and personal development of diverse learners.
- Establishes and maintains a safe and secure classroom environment.
- Manages student misconduct promptly and resolves conflicts and crises effectively.
- Promotes an independent and collaborative work ethic.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher and state teaching certification
- Minimum of 2 years of previous teaching experience at the K–12 level
- Math Endorsement K–12 or 6–12
- Understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and classroom management
- Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, with the ability to closely adhere to established requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
