Job Summary:

St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School, a faith-centered and academically strong community within the Archdiocese of St. Louis, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher for grades 6–8. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of reading and writing, create a dynamic classroom culture rooted in Catholic values, and engage students in meaningful, standards-based instruction.

Job Responsibilities
  • Teach ELA curriculum to students in grades 6–8, including reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and literary analysis.
  • Plan and implement engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with Archdiocesan and state standards.
  • Foster a classroom environment that supports academic growth, mutual respect, and a love for learning.
  • Establish a culture for learning by setting clear expectations and maintaining consistent classroom routines.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment.
  • Encourage spiritual development by integrating Catholic teachings and values into classroom practices and promoting a prayerful atmosphere.
  • Assess and monitor student progress regularly using both formative and summative assessments.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance, attendance, and communication.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues regarding student growth and classroom activities.
  • Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and faith formation activities.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or English; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current Missouri teaching certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Previous experience teaching middle school ELA preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of forming students in faith and academics.
  • Completion of or willingness to complete Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment requirements.
