Position: Middle School ELA Teacher

Location: STEM - Intermediate (6-8), Camden, New Jersey

Responsibilities:

1. Develops and administers curriculum aligned with LEAP's district goals.
2. Creates a safe and engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.
3. Designs lesson plans and instructional materials to optimize learning time.
4. Assesses student progress regularly and adjusts instruction to meet individual needs, including students with special needs.
5. Teaches responsible citizenship and other legal and school-specific subjects.
6. Engages in ongoing professional development through seminars, workshops, or research.
7. Maintains accurate records of student activities, grades, and attendance.
8. Encourages parental involvement and maintains effective communication.
9. Ensures student conduct aligns with school policies and standards.
10. Collaborates with colleagues to evaluate and improve curriculum.
11. In conjunction with the Principal and Chief Academic Officer, selects instructional resources and maintains inventory.
12. Supervises students during activities outside classroom hours, including transportation.
13. Administers standardized tests as per district protocols.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid NJ state teacher certification (Standard, CE, or CEAS) or eligibility for reciprocity.
• Experience working in an urban classroom setting.
• Proven experience using data-driven instruction to improve student outcomes.
