Base pay range

$50,000.00/yr - $50,000.00/yr

Position Type: Full-Time

Role And Responsibilities

Reporting to the team lead/elite teacher, the PSOE Classroom Teacher is responsible for direct instruction through curriculum implementation, lesson planning, data disaggregation, and classroom management. Additional responsibilities include maintaining compliance with individual student Education Plans, Section 504 Plans, etc. They will ensure operational and functional knowledge of best practices in education, state and federal education law, FERPA and FAPE law, parent relations, behavioral management, documenting and reporting, and process-driven accountability.

An English Language Arts Teacher is involved in the development of English language in students and helps them understand academic subject matter. The main responsibilities include inculcating educational, behavioral, and social skills in students for their overall development into capable, responsible, and mature individuals.

Curriculum

Core responsibilities include planning, developing, and compiling a comprehensive language-based educational program for students and delivering quality instructions to foster overall development.

  • Providing interactive and meaningful learning material, maintaining a positive learning environment, assigning homework, and conducting assessments to analyze progress.
  • Implementing and delivering quality instruction, encouraging higher-order thinking activities, and challenging students with curriculum design.
  • Preparing assignments and tests, evaluating results, and developing innovative teaching methods tailored to students' backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Providing resources such as reference books and monitoring students' learning abilities using available curriculum resources.
Responsibilities
  • Providing instruction in various settings and utilizing data-driven instruction frameworks.
  • Completing assessments, grading, planning, and engaging with students, staff, and families.
  • Supporting students with exceptional needs through collaboration with specialists and ensuring compliance with IEPs, BIPs, and 504 plans.
  • Maintaining communication with families and community partnerships, documenting progress, and managing student records.
  • Participating in school committees and acting as a professional advisor to the team lead.
  • Following all organizational frameworks and maintaining effective communication within the classroom.
  • Managing workload efficiently through delegated roles and troubleshooting workflow issues.
Program planning and management
  • Contributing to the organization’s mission and supporting the planning, implementation, and evaluation of projects.
Human resources planning and management
  • Creating a positive, safe, and compliant work environment in accordance with relevant legislation.
Qualifications And Education Requirements

The candidate must be committed to the PSOE mission. Preferred qualifications include prior full-time teaching experience, a valid Indiana State Teaching License or equivalent, a bachelor’s degree in education, and strong organizational and communication skills. Professional development is required annually.

Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency in technology, experience in charter schools, and knowledge of community challenges related to the mission.
Additional Notes

Physical and environmental requirements include sitting, standing, manual dexterity, and ability to work in a typical school environment, with occasional work outside regular hours for school activities.
