Carbon Valley Academy K-8 is searching for a 6-7-8 ELA/Humanities teacher experienced in teaching the grade level standards. The successful candidate will motivate students toward an enthusiasm for literacy and critical thinking. We are looking for a teacher who understands the developmental and social-emotional needs of young adolescents (grades 6-8). An approachable, engaging, organized, sensitive, and disciplined teacher will be most successful in this position.
The primary focus will be developing and maintaining a strong student-teacher connection inside and outside the classroom. Our goal is to attract and retain a colleague who engages thoroughly with our learning community and participates in the larger life of the school (e.g., team lead, club sponsor). A sense of humor is also appreciated. CVA K-8 is a Chromebook 1:1 school that uses technology to support student achievement. You will teach one section (80 min) of ELA/Humanities for each grade level (6-8), teach an elective for one trimester, and co-teach with our math teacher in another trimester. You will have 1-2 planning periods of 50 minutes depending on the trimester, and a 40-minute lunch.

Bachelor's Degree in English or related field with certification to teach (or working towards it). Social Studies credit or focus is preferred but not required. Experience with the Workshop Model instruction is desired. Candidates should demonstrate leadership, professionalism, dedication, time management, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
