Charlotte Country Day School seeks a Director of Studies for the Middle School to lead JK‑12 curriculum alignment, supervise faculty coaching, and ensure program coherence across divisions.

The role emphasizes instructional leadership, development of reflective practice, and collaboration with the Head of Division and school leadership to advance educational excellence and belonging within an inclusive community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
• Significant classroom teaching experience in the division’s grade levels.
• Experience with curriculum development and program implementation.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, or leading professional learning for adults.
• Ability to use assessment and student data thoughtfully to evaluate and improve a program.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate JK‑12 curriculum with other divisions to ensure vertical alignment across the school.
• Lead a vibrant, academically strong, developmentally appropriate program with the Head of Division and divisional staff.
• Contribute to curriculum review, program evaluations, and scheduling adjustments.
• Develop common language and guidance on curricular expectations; distinguish schoolwide requirements from professional judgment areas.
• Recommend program improvements and develop plans for implementation.
• Oversee division scheduling and adjust as needed.
• Stay current with research and emerging practices in teaching, learning, and assessment.
• Coordinate textbook/resource selection and adaptation.
