Job summary

Columbia Community Church (C3) in Washington is seeking a part-time youth ministry leader for the middle school program (grades 6–8). This role will oversee weekly gatherings, cultivate an engaging environment, and mentor students toward faith growth.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in student ministry, education, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the middle school ministry (grades 6–8), including weekly gatherings and student engagement.

Job description

SUMMARY

To serveC3byleading and developing the middle school ministry under the direction of the youth pastor. This roleis responsible forcreating engaging, Christ-centered environments where middle school students can grow in their faith, build meaningful relationships, and take steps in discipleship.

PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Lead all aspects of the middle school ministry (grades 6–8), including weekly gatherings, environments, and student engagement.
  • Create a welcoming, fun, and spiritually impactful environment for students.
  • Build relationships with students and families, fostering a sense of belonging and community.
  • Regularlyteach/preachduring middle school services and gatherings.
  • Communicate biblical truth in an engaging, age-appropriate, and culturally relevant way.
  • Partner with the Youth Pastor to align teaching with overall youth ministry vision and direction.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a discipleship pathwayspecifically for middle school students.
  • Help students take next steps in their faith, including salvation, baptism, spiritual habits, and serving.
  • Support small group environments that encourage spiritual growth and accountability.
  • Recruit, train, and care formiddle school volunteer leaders.
  • Provide clear communication, encouragement, and ongoing development for leaders.
  • Create a healthy team culture that supports both students and volunteers.
  • Help plan and executeyouth ministry events, including camps, retreats, outreach events, and other special events and gatherings.
  • Ensure events are organized, engaging, and aligned with ministry goals.
  • Collaborate with the youth team on creative programming and student engagement strategies.
  • Work closely with the Youth Pastor to execute the overall vision and strategy of the youth ministry.
  • Support the Youth Pastor in additional responsibilities and initiatives as directed.
  • Partner with other ministry areas when needed to support church-wide efforts.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor about departmental issues.
  • Assist supervisor with special projects, events, and diverse tasks in support of C3.
  • Attend any department meetings, regular all-staff meetings, and other meetings as required.
  • Utilize a thorough understanding of C3 employee policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate ongoing financial support for ministries of C3.
  • Work in close association with the entire staff to build and maintain a strong team environment.
  • Cooperate with leadership by performing any other duties when asked to do so.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity and experience with a variety of software applications such a Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with church management software are a plus.
  • Strong organizational and office skills.
  • Ability to handle constantly changing priorities and demands.
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively and professionally at all levels.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

Education and Experience.

  • Education: High School diploma or GED required. Bachelors degree in ministry, theology, education, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • Experience: 3 years of experience in student ministry, education, or a related field.
Work Schedule Part-time (28 hours per week)
