Job summary

Wayne County Schools Employment Network is seeking a Middle School Competitive Cheer Assistant Coach for the 2026-2027 school year in the Woodhaven High School Athletic Department. The role involves coaching student athletes to develop skills, teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship within the district’s athletic program.

The candidate should have a high school diploma, CPR/First Aid certification, completion of required online health/safety courses, and 3+ years of coaching experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in school setting and with diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge of sport strategies and rules.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and teaches skill sets and techniques for individual and team achievement.
• Plans and sets up practices and games.
• Ensures a district approved coach is present at all practices and games.
• Develops training programs and practice schedules.
• Maintains athletic equipment and inventories in collaboration with Head Coach.
• Promotes appropriate behavior of student athletes and maintains safety.
• Follows MHSAA rules and district conduct policies.
• Reports rosters to the Athletic Director and submits end-of-year reports.
