Job summary

Texas School for the Deaf Athletics in Austin, Texas is seeking a Middle School Cheerleading Head Coach to lead and coach a competitive squad for the season. The role requires effective communication, safety awareness, and a strong rapport with students and staff.

The coach must recruit athletes, coordinate practices, supervise trips and events, and ensure proper equipment care and facility upkeep while upholding sportsmanship and school values.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency.
• Must obtain First Aid and CPR within one month of employment.
• Sign Language skills at least INTERMEDIATE (SLPI).

Responsibilities

• Attend practice sessions, meetings, and other assignments as directed by head coach/athletic director.
• Monitor health and safety of participants and promote good sportsmanship and school image.
• Assist in game administration and follow head coach philosophies.
• Supervise student athletes at events on campus and statewide.
• Supervise and instruct athletes and managers in caring for equipment and facilities.
• Manage keys and building security during season.
• Promote safety and positive community relations.
• Assist in caring for injured students and liaise with Health Center.
• Report hazards promptly to head coach/AD.
• Maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
