Job summary

Forest Hills Public School District is seeking two Middle School Boys Basketball Coaches for Eastern Middle School. The position is seasonal and reports to the Middle School Athletic Coordinator and Principal. Salary is described in the supplemental contract with the Master Agreement.

Season begins October 20, 2026. Focus is on skill development, sportsmanship, and school spirit while supporting students academically and safely.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills with parents and students.
• Volleyball and/or coaching experience preferred.
• First aid and CPR knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and communicate clear goals for the team and players.
• Develop players' basketball skills and game understanding.
• Maintain open communication with students, parents, coaches, and Athletics Coordinator.
• Foster sportsmanship and a positive self-image among athletes.
• Demonstrate best coaching practices and safety awareness.
• Support student academic expectations and conduct.

Schedule: Season begins October 20, 2026

Job Summary: To help each participating student achieve a level of skill, appreciation for the values of discipline, sportsmanship, school spirit, pride and an increased level of self-esteem.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Volleyball and/or coaching experience preferred
• First aid and CPR knowledge preferred

Essential Job Functions:

• Develop and communicate clear and specific goals for the team and individual players
• Develop the skills of players specific to tennis
• Maintain open and honest communication with students, parents, other coaches, and Athletic Coordinator
• Ability to establish an environment in which athletes can gain self-esteem and develop a positive self-image
• Applicant must establish a team that demonstrates good sportsmanship
• Develop and demonstrate a good knowledge base of best practices specific to their coaching arena
• Support and collaborate with coaches in other athletic programs
• Model and teach skills necessary to succeed
• Support student academic expectations, responsibilities, and achievements
• Develop knowledge and understanding of Forest Hills Public Schools policies and procedures as it applies to athletics
• Promote and enforce the student-athlete code of conduct
• Connect athletic experiences with life experiences
• Provide an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration among coaches and players
• Model good sportsmanship always
• Create and maintain a safe and healthy environment for student athletes
• Ability to commit to a flexible schedule
• Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work may be performed indoors and/or outdoors. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.

Mental Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.

Evaluation:
Annually by either the athletic coordinator and/or principal.

The employee will remain free of any alcohol or drugs throughout his/her employment with the district as outlined in Board Policy #4210. Seasonal position.
