Job summary

Smyth County School Board is seeking a Middle School Head Coach to lead a total sports program, supervise staff and ensure high standards of sportsmanship and student-athlete development. The role requires coaching experience, the ability to organize programs, and to serve as a positive role model while coordinating with school administration and staff to schedule practices and competitions.

Qualifications

Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
Has previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and continue to examine new theories and procedures.
The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.

Responsibilities

Thorough knowledge of athletic policies and responsibility for their implementation.
Know and apply system, state, and league regulations; interpret them for staff.
Maintain proper command structure and ensure attendance at meetings.
Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques with staff.
Train and inform staff, encourage professional growth via clinics.
