Job summary

Aztec Municipal School District Athletic Department is seeking a Middle School Assistant Athletic Coach in Aztec, New Mexico. The position reports to the Athletic Director/School Principal and requires NM coaching certification, with prior coaching experience and the ability to organize a comprehensive sports program.

Qualifications

• Valid New Mexico Coaching Certification is required.
• Employment as a teacher in the Aztec Municipal School District is preferred.
• Must have previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and ongoing learning.

Responsibilities

• Selects teams and determines playing time.
• Designs fundamentals, strategies, and staff development for the program.
• Schedules and coordinates transportation and events with athletic director.
• Ensures equipment management and inventory control.
• Maintains discipline and promotes morale and cooperation throughout the program.
• Communicates with parents, boosters, and media as needed.
