Zuni Public Schools is seeking an Athletic Coach/Assistant Basketball Girls Middle School to support the head coach in organizing the sports program and mentoring student athletes in character and discipline.

You will work with the athletic director and principals to implement policies, schedule practices, coordinate equipment, and maintain eligibility and safety throughout the season. This role requires strong teamwork and commitment to student development within a school setting.

Responsabilités

• Assist the head coach in implementing athletic policies and practices.
• Stay current on system, state, and league regulations and ensure consistent application.
• Attend required meetings and follow the proper administrative chain of command.
• Help establish coaching philosophy, skills, and techniques for the program.
• Coordinate conferences, clinics, and staff meetings to keep staff informed.
• Train staff and encourage professional growth through coaching clinics.
• Supervise and evaluate assistant coaches at season end.
• Maintain discipline and promote morale and cooperation among staff.
• Assist in scheduling, transportation, and tournament logistics with the athletic director.
• Prepare for practices/events and coordinate facility use with staff.
• Document injuries, parental consent, and athlete eligibility as required.
• Ensure equipment is secured and properly maintained and tracked.
• Suggest policy or procedural changes to the athletic director.
• Mentor athletes in character traits like trust, respect, responsibility and citizenship.
• Monitor student grades and behavior, offering guidance when needed.
• Provide safety guidance and supervision during practices, games, and travel.
• Communicate rules and sport-specific regulations to participants.
• Develop programs for injuries, medical care, and emergencies.
• Complete required paperwork for disabling injuries within 24 hours and submit to the athletic office.
• Direct student managers, assistants, and statisticians as needed.
• Assist in disciplinary decisions and communicate with parents about eligibility issues.
• Support student athletes in college preparation and post-secondary options.
• Contribute to budgeting and equipment guidelines for upcoming seasons.
