KIPP St. Louis currently educates over 2,000 students and at full growth, we will educate nearly 3,600 students and hundreds of alumni. Today, our St. Louis network consists of two middle schools, three elementary schools, and a high school.
The Assistant School Leader of Instruction is responsible for driving strong academic results for scholars through demonstrating instructional leadership competencies, establishing a clear instructional vision, and motivating others to follow that vision. The ASL of Instruction strategically implements the school and region’s instructional mission and vision by managing teachers, leading and participating in professional development, and working to help create a positive school culture as a part of the school leadership team.

Core responsibilities include:
Data-Driven Instructional Leadership
- Develop proficiency in Observation Feedback, Weekly Data Meetings, and Lesson Internalization protocols.
- Manage teacher performance to achieve student outcomes through weekly coaching sessions, including developing instructional strategies, providing feedback, setting goals, and analyzing data. Evaluate teachers using regional evaluation tools.
- Track data related to observations, feedback, and student achievement in designated data systems.
- Facilitate assessment data cycles, including weekly quizzes, internalization, and quarterly analysis.
- Drive teacher performance and student outcomes through regular data analysis and action planning.
- Coordinate assessment administration and data management with the Operations team.
Performance Management and Professional Development
- Lead teacher cohorts to set and meet development goals aligned with school and regional objectives.
- Collaborate on school-wide rituals and create systems to support staff and scholars.
- Build effective teams characterized by trust, accountability, and clear ownership of results.
- Support teacher growth and hold staff accountable to meet deadlines and goals.
- Plan and lead professional development with follow-up systems.
- Manage personal professional growth and leverage regional and network resources.
- Organize and prioritize tasks effectively, maintaining a weekly calendar.
- Identify and develop high-potential staff and manage performance and growth initiatives.
- Manage outside partnerships as needed.
School Culture and Climate
- Conduct weekly walkthroughs to monitor academic progress and provide real-time coaching.
- Lead or co-lead school-wide rituals and initiatives.
- Own and maintain school-wide routines and ensure they meet proficiency standards.
- Uphold norms and expectations for behavior and culture in classrooms and shared spaces.
Leadership Mindset and Action
- Participate in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at school and regional levels.
- Collaborate with leadership teams to meet school goals.
- Promote unity and effective communication within the leadership team.
- Model the school's values and engage in challenging conversations productively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (required), Master’s Degree preferred
- Teaching Certificate required; Administrator Certificate required
- Proven student achievement results in own classroom and from teachers managed
- Experience coaching teachers to instructional excellence
- Strong belief in all students' ability to learn
- High work ethic, patience, and collaborative skills
- Excellent organizational skills
