Job summary

You will help establish a positive learning climate, supervise staff and facilities, participate in curriculum development, and support safety and program planning.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Oklahoma Elementary Principal's or Oklahoma Middle Level Principal's or Oklahoma Secondary Principal's certificate at the time application is filed.
• Responsible to the Executive Director of Secondary Education or his/her designee, but under the direct supervision of the building principal.

Responsibilities

• Assist principal in successful completion of his/her job targets.
• Use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each middle school student.
• Help establish and maintain an effective middle school learning climate.
• Perform all duties of principal in his/her absence or as assigned.
• Help establish guidelines for proper conduct with appropriate consequences for inappropriate behavior.
• Help supervise and facilitate the teaching process.
• Help in the selection and supervision of building personnel.
• Supervise the daily use of facilities for both academic and nonacademic purposes.
• Keep abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, especially as it pertains to middle level education.
• Assist in development, revision and evaluation of the curriculum.
• Help plan, organize and direct school activities making provisions for proper supervision and safety.
• Other duties as may be assigned.
