Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation in Houston, Texas is seeking a senior professional to lead continuous improvement initiatives across Risk Oversight, Risk Policy, Risk Analytics and Performance Measurement within the Commercial organization.

You will partner with Risk Data and System Analytics, drive scalable processes, and deliver measurable business results through data-driven, risk-focused process changes and compelling business cases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.
  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant Middle Office, Commercial, Risk or Trading experience required.
  • Preferred experience includes Project Management or Continuous Improvement leadership, Commercial Risk Oversight and Policy, Commercial Performance Measurement processes.
  • Travel requirements 10 - 15%

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, develops and leads initiatives to streamline Middle Office operations and enhance productivity using proven process improvement methodologies.
  • Assesses current processes, identify inefficiencies, and uncover opportunities for improvement to drive operational excellence.
  • Tracks progress against key deliverables, identifies risks, dependencies, and decision points, and helps escape barriers requiring leadership action.
  • Partners with teams across the organization to implement data driven solutions, track progress, and ensure sustainable improvements.
  • Leads and supports change management efforts related to process improvements, ensuring smooth transitions and stakeholder engagement.
  • Identifies and assesses potential risks in process changes and improvement initiatives, develops mitigation strategies, and actively manages risks throughout project lifecycles.
  • Collaborates with leadership and key stakeholders to ensure initiatives align with organizational priorities and deliver measurable results.
  • Develops and presents compelling business cases, including cost-benefit analysis, to secure leadership buy-in.
  • Continuously monitors market trends, emerging technologies and best practices to drive innovation and elevate continuous improvement efforts.

Position Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity to join MPC’s Middle Office leading continuous improvement initiatives across our Risk Oversight, Risk Policy, Risk Analytics and Performance Measurement teams. This role will be responsible for leading transformative initiatives focused on building scalable processes, risk reporting and performance measurement supporting the Commercial organization across our crude, products, natural gas, natural gas liquids, petrochemicals, and power teams. This role works closely with our Risk Data and System Analytics team to identify technology solutions to enhance and streamline Middle Office functions.

Key Responsibilities:
