Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company LP seeks a seasoned professional to lead continuous improvement initiatives across the Middle Office, Risk Oversight, Risk Policy, Risk Analytics and Performance Measurement teams.

The role focuses on building scalable processes, risk reporting and performance measurement, partnering with Risk Data and System Analytics to drive technology-enabled solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.
  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant Middle Office, Commercial, Risk or Trading experience required.
  • Preferred experience includes Project Management or Continuous Improvement leadership, Commercial Risk Oversight and Policy, Commercial Performance Measurement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop and lead initiatives to streamline Middle Office operations.
  • Assess current processes, identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Track progress against deliverables, identify risks and dependencies.
  • Partner with teams to implement data-driven solutions and ensure improvements.
  • Lead change management efforts for process improvements and stakeholder engagement.
  • Identify and assess risks in process changes and develop mitigations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align initiatives with priorities and measurable results.
  • Develops and presents business cases, including cost-benefit analyses.

Position Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join MPC's Middle Office leading continuous improvement initiatives across our Risk Oversight, Risk Policy, Risk Analytics and Performance Measurement teams. This role will be responsible for leading transformative initiatives focused on building scalable processes, risk reporting and performance measurement supporting the Commercial organization across our crude, products, natural gas, natural gas liquids, petrochemicals, and power teams. This role works closely with our Risk Data and System Analytics team to identify technology solutions to enhance and streamline Middle Office functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identifies, develops and leads initiatives to streamline Middle Office operations and enhance productivity using proven process improvement methodologies.
  • Assesses current processes, identifies inefficiencies, and uncovers opportunities for improvement to drive operational excellence.

  • Leads and supports change management efforts related to process improvements, ensuring smooth transitions and stakeholder engagement.
  • Identifies and assesses potential risks in process changes and improvement initiatives, develops mitigation strategies, and actively manages risks throughout project lifecycles.
  • Collaborates with leadership and key stakeholders to ensure initiatives align with organizational priorities and deliver measurable results.
  • Develops and presents compelling business cases, including cost-benefit analysis, to secure leadership buy-in.
  • Continuously monitors market trends, emerging technologies and best practices to drive innovation and elevate continuous improvement efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.
  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant Middle Office, Commercial, Risk or Trading experience required.
  • Preferred experience includes Project Management or Continuous Improvement leadership, Commercial Risk Oversight and Policy, Commercial Performance Measurement processes.
