Job summary

Sedgefield Middle in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Master Teacher Leader for Middle Grades Math to foster growth among math teachers and improve student learning in grades 6-8.

The role provides vision for teacher growth, collaborates with principals and PLCs, and supports curriculum implementation. Strong leadership, collaboration, and knowledge of NC standards are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in math, education or a related field.
• Two or more years of successful math teaching or math leadership experience.
• One year of effective math teacher leadership experience.
• Master's degree in math, education or related field.
• Three or more years of successful math teaching or related school-based experience.
• Two or more years of highly effective teacher leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as PLC lead to ensure teachers understand the district's math curriculum units and lessons and deliver effective instruction.
• Engage math teachers to collaborate with one another within and outside of professional learning communities (PLC).
• Use adult learning practices to plan and facilitate regular training and support for teachers to build skills.
• Support teachers in building a repertoire of skills and differentiating instruction to meet all students’ needs.
• Collaborate with school leaders on observation and feedback techniques to support teachers.
• Provide training in math content knowledge, student learning evidence, data analysis and evidence-based practices.
• Assist teachers with understanding student diversity and differentiating instruction to personalize learning.
• Collaborate with district departments and other schools to share growth opportunities for math teachers.
• Maintain records of support for math teachers.
• Participate in district-wide professional learning opportunities.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
