Job description

Overview

• The practice supports a nationally recognized FERC regulatory group, advising electric and natural gas utilities, developers of generation, storage, transmission, and other energy infrastructure, and data center clients on complex energy and interconnection needs.
• The role involves approximately 80% FERC regulatory work, with the remainder supporting a growing mix of data center-related and energy transactional matters.
• Responsibilities include advising on Federal Power Act and Natural Gas Act matters, representing clients before FERC in regulatory proceedings, and supporting matters related to electric transmission rates, interconnection and large-load issues (including data centers), wholesale energy markets, and natural gas pipeline certification, rates, and compliance.
• The position also involves assisting with regulatory aspects of energy infrastructure transactions, conducting legal research, drafting filings, managing agency interactions, and collaborating across practices on infrastructure, regulatory, and energy-transition matters.
• Candidates should possess meaningful experience with FERC regulatory matters, large law firm or government (FERC or state commission) experience, and prior electric and/or natural gas regulatory work.
• Familiarity with interconnection or energy infrastructure development is required; familiarity with hydropower licensing is beneficial but not mandatory.
• The role offers direct client exposure and meaningful responsibility within a high-demand, sophisticated FERC practice, with opportunities to grow in expanding data center and energy infrastructure work.
