Mid-Senior Structural Engineer (PR/609562) Spokane, Washington
Salary: USD95000 - USD140000 per annum
Most structural engineers say they want more variety. Few actually get it.
If you're finding yourself stuck on the same project types, buried in production work, or waiting for leadership opportunities to "eventually" materialize, this may be worth a conversation.
This opportunity is with a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm where structural engineers are trusted to do far more than run calculations. You'll work directly with architects, contractors, owners, and fellow engineers on a diverse mix of buildings and structures while having a tangible impact on projects, clients, and the growth of the office itself.
The team is looking for an engineer who still enjoys the technical side of structural engineering but is equally excited about mentorship, client relationships, project leadership, and continuous professional growth.
What You'll Work On
- Commercial, institutional, civic, industrial, and specialty structures
- New construction, renovations, tenant improvements, and structural upgrades
- Structural assessments and field investigations
- Seismic evaluation and retrofit projects
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary projects requiring coordination across multiple engineering disciplines
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead structural design efforts from concept through construction.
- Develop calculations, specifications, reports, and construction documents.
- Coordinate directly with architects, contractors, owners, and project teams.
- Perform site visits, field observations, and structural evaluations.
- Manage project scope, schedule, and deliverables.
- Mentor EITs and developing engineers.
- Participate in proposal efforts and client relationship development.
- Serve as a trusted resource for both technical and project-related challenges.
Who Stands Out
- Naturally curious and enjoys solving unique engineering problems.
- Comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting for direction.
- Strong communicator who enjoys working with clients and project teams.
- Interested in mentoring others and helping build strong teams.
- Values variety and exposure to different project types.
- Looking for a long-term home with room to grow technically and professionally.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- PE license required.
- 6-15 years of structural engineering experience.
- Experience designing steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures.
- Knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and NDS.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- SE license or active pursuit of SE licensure.
- Existing building, seismic retrofit, or renovation experience.
- Revit and BIM coordination experience.
- Experience working directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
Why This Opportunity Gets Attention
- Diverse project portfolio rather than being siloed into one market sector.
- Direct exposure to clients, architects, and decision-makers.
- Strong mentorship culture from experienced engineers.
- Clear path toward project leadership and technical leadership.
- Opportunity to influence projects from start to finish.
- A collaborative environment where your input is valued regardless of title.
- Annual bonus opportunities.
- 401(k) with employer contribution.
- Professional development and licensing support.
This role tends to attract engineers who feel underutilized in their current position. If you're looking for more project variety, greater visibility, stronger mentorship, and a clearer path toward leadership, this is the type of opportunity that doesn't stay available for long.
