We are seeking a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit to fill a full-time mid to senior level Traffic Engineer position in our Indianapolis, IN; St. Louis, MO; Chicago, IL; Peoria, IL; or Springfield, IL offices. Position Overview And Opportunities
As a part of the traffic team, you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead a team to complete traffic engineering and analysis tasks.
- Develop plans, specifications, and estimates for projects involving traffic signals, ITS, and safety improvements.
- Collaborate on intersection designs, pedestrian/accessibility design, Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Traffic Control Plans (TCP), and signing/pavement markings.
- Perform traffic analyses/studies such as traffic forecasting, travel demand modeling, traffic impact analysis, capacity analysis, operational analysis, warrant analysis, speed studies, trip generation, O-D studies, benefit-cost analysis, feasibility studies, and crash analysis.
- Participate in client meetings.
- Develop new traffic service areas.
- Assist with marketing and project pursuits.
- Manage project traffic tasks (staffing, budget, schedule, and quality assurance).
- Conduct site investigations and provide construction support for ongoing projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical Skills:
- Experience with Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, and/or Vissim.
- Experience in Traffic signal design.
- Understanding of the Highway Safety Manual and Highway Capacity Manual.
- Familiarity with travel demand modeling concepts; experience with Visum, Cube, and/or TransCAD is desirable.
- Experience with roadway design software such as OpenRoads Designer (preferred), PowerInroads, or Civil 3D.
- Familiarity with MUTCD, AASHTO Greenbook, or PROWAG.
Soft Skills:
- Building effective relationships with internal and external clients.
- Communicating complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and public stakeholders.
Education/Training
- BS or MS in civil engineering or related degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive transportation or traffic engineering experience.
- An active Indiana, Illinois, or Missouri Professional Engineers license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- PTOE certification is desirable.

Additional Details
- Anticipated Classification Range: E/S V – VII
- Salary Range: $110,000 - $160,000 based on experience, with discretionary bonuses
