Job summary

Leidos seeks a Mid-level Software Engineer to advance transportation/computer vision projects onsite in McLean, VA. The role requires 1–2 years of C++ experience and a willingness to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

You will analyze ITS software, lead modular redesigns, and collaborate across teams to deliver robust software for intelligent transportation systems. Responsibilities include prototyping for ITS devices, contributing to open-source processes, and guiding test events at TFHRC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering with 4+ years of professional OO software development experience.
• 1–2 years of hands-on C++ experience with memory management; familiarity with C, Java, or Python.
• Experience with Git and Docker (including docker-compose).
• Experience developing in an Agile framework using JIRA and Confluence; strong software quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and redesign ITS software systems to be modular, scalable, and maintainable.
• Lead knowledge sharing and establish internal software development best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scope tasks and estimate timelines.
• Lead development for research prototypes and proofs-of-concept across ITS devices and cloud systems.
• Contribute to open-source processes, triage issues, and evaluate third-party code.
