NS2 Mission seeks a mid-level Systems Engineer in the Tysons Corner, VA area to design, implement, and maintain secure, high-performing systems while supporting modern DevOps and automation practices. You will work across enterprise environments and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

The role emphasizes system design, monitoring, security, backup, automation, and collaboration with developers and stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in systems engineering/DevOps or related roles.
• Experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated testing tools.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
• Experience with version control systems (Git).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.

Responsibilities

• System Design & Implementation: design, install, configure, and test operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Monitoring & Maintenance: proactively monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and ensure high availability and reliability.
• Security & Compliance: implement and maintain security controls, meet compliance requirements and best practices.
• Backup & Recovery: develop and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
• Automation & Scripting: create and maintain scripts to automate processes and improve efficiency.
• Troubleshooting: diagnose and resolve complex issues across hardware, software, and network environments.
• Collaboration: partner with developers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
• Documentation: maintain clear documentation for system architecture, configurations, and procedures.
• Technology Evaluation: research and recommend new tools, technologies, and system enhancements.
