Job summary

NS2 Mission in Tysons Corner, VA is seeking a mid-level Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure, high-performing systems while supporting modern DevOps and automation practices. This role focuses on maintaining application infrastructure across networks, meeting security compliance requirements, and supporting operational reliability.

The position also includes participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in systems engineering, DevOps, or related technical roles.
• Experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated testing tools.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or similar.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.

Responsibilities

• System Design & Implementation: Design, install, configure, and test operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Monitoring & Maintenance: Proactively monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security controls, ensuring systems meet compliance requirements and best practices.
• Backup & Recovery: Develop and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
• Automation & Scripting: Create and maintain scripts to automate processes and improve system efficiency.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex issues across hardware, software, and network environments.
• Collaboration: Partner with developers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Documentation: Maintain clear and detailed documentation for system architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Technology Evaluation: Research and recommend new tools, technologies, and system enhancements

Required Qualifications
